During the typing test, candidates may use the Back Space Key to correct
the current word and the 01 word immediately preceding it — i.e., a maximum of
02 words in total may be corrected.
Note: In the exam software, each word in the passage is highlighted one by one as you type. The current word to be typed appears highlighted — once typed and confirmed with Space, the highlight moves to the next word automatically. - 12. For calculating typing speed (Hindi/English), a grace of 05 mistakes is provided. If mistakes are 05 or fewer, speed is calculated on the total words typed. If mistakes exceed 05, the first 05 are pardoned, and thereafter 05 correct words are deducted per additional mistake as penalty. Speed is then calculated on the remaining correct words (including the pardoned 05 mistakes).
- 14. Candidates must not use the Control (Ctrl) Key during the typing test. Any technical or other problem arising from its use will be the sole responsibility of the candidate.
- 15. Candidates are warned that a complete Log of all keyboard activity during the typing test is recorded in the exam software. Any unauthorised activity detected during the test may result in cancellation of candidature.
- 16. Once the typing test begins, candidates must continue typing until the full allotted time is over. No pause (Time out) of any kind is permitted during the test duration once it has started.
- 17. The result of the typing test will be published separately on the Commission's official website in due course.
- i. Every omission of a word or figure from the passage.
- ii. Every substitution of a wrong word or figure (excluding transposition of words).
- iii. Every addition of a word or figure not found in the given passage.

Every spelling error caused by repetition, addition, omission, or substitution of a letter.

Repetition of a word or figure.
e.g. "I shall shall be grateful..." - vi. Incomplete words — half-typed words are treated as a full mistake.

Spacing Errors — No space between two words, or an unwanted space between words/letters.

Wrong Capitalisation — Capital letter typed as lowercase or vice versa.
(Not applicable to Hindi typewriting scripts.) - iii. Punctuation Errors — Punctuation mark omitted, added, or substituted by another.

Transposition Errors — Words typed in reversed order.
"I hope" typed as "hope I" - v. Paragraph Errors — Manual spaces used instead of the Tab Key for paragraph indentation. Each irrational paragraph is counted as half a mistake.
Important: The UPSSSC Junior Assistant Typing Test is purely qualifying in nature. Scores are not added to the final merit list. Candidates must achieve 25 wpm in Hindi and 30 wpm in English within the allotted 5 minutes per language. Do not use the Ctrl key during the test. All keystrokes are logged by the exam software.
